Discussing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  in the field of clean energy and RE

Dauren Karashev, Chairman of the Board of the Kazakhstan Association of Blockchain Technologies and Data Centers, and Sayazhan Tuyakova, Head of the International Cooperation Service of the Association, held a meeting with Assel Nurbekova, Director of Energy and Environment Unit of UNDP, Oleg Khmelev, Technical Manager of UNDP, and others. The meeting took place at the country office of the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan.

During the discussions, participants explored the development of digital mining and the tasks associated with enhancing the energy efficiency of mining machines in the country. They also considered the potential contribution of miners to the development of renewable energy sources to reduce CO2 emissions.

The parties reached an agreement to exchange materials for the further implementation of joint projects. The Association also expressed support for the idea of a mutually beneficial collaboration between miners and small-scale renewable energy projects that do not have a long-term contract with the .

It is important to recall that, within the framework of the Paris Agreement, Kazakhstan declared its commitment to an unconditional reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 15%, as well as a conditional reduction of 25% by 2030 (in case of international support) from the 1990 level.
