Date: 29.02.2024

The Kazakhstan Association of Blockchain Technologies and Data Centers (KABT) explored opportunities for collaboration with the European Union Support to Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA) Project.
During a meeting between the Association's Chairman, Dauren Karashev, and the SECCA Project's National Coordinator, Zhaksylyk Tokayev, discussed the potential areas of cooperation. These included advancements in "green" energy and energy efficiency within the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the development of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues.
Zhaksylyk Tokayev shared the project's goals within Kazakhstan and the broader Central Asian region. Throughout the discussion, KABT expressed its dedication to the country's transition to the Green Economy Concept. The Chairman also expressed interest in collaborating with experts from the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan on thematic projects. Additionally, there was consideration of the concept of reducing CO2 levels through collaboration between miners and small-scale renewable energy sources.
The parties further delved into the development and challenges of the Carbon Market in Kazakhstan. Dauren Karashev elaborated on how digital miners, in collaboration with small renewable energy sources (RES), could contribute to the market's growth. As a result of these discussions, both parties agreed to further cooperation within the SECCA Project, aiming to find common ground and strengthen ties between energy experts from both organizations.
It's noteworthy that the European Union and Kazakhstan maintain cooperation under the Energy Charter. Kazakhstan has benefited from the EU4Energy Initiative program, focusing on enhancing energy market competitiveness, developing renewable energy sources, and ensuring their efficient utilization.
