At the end of last week, the capital hosted the National Cup Finals of Student Entrepreneurship, Startups, and Innovations, as well as the Second Republican Championship of School Entrepreneurship, held by the international platform ENACTUS.
Over 70 Kazakhstani universities and schools fought for the title of the national champion ENACTUS Kazakhstan National EXPO. ENACTUS's mission is to prepare and nurture a new generation of entrepreneurial leaders who are able to generate innovation, see new opportunities in any difficulties, and use business principles to improve their lives. Annually at the national cup, ENACTUS university and school business teams present more than 100 projects. The projects have a social, environmental, innovation, and commercial focus.
In 2021, the country’s 52 universities and more than 20 schools sent their applications to participate in the National Cup of Student and School Entrepreneurship. As a result, 30 universities and 14 school teams from all over Kazakhstan passed the selection.
Chairman of the Board, Sapar Akhmetov, participated in the jury on behalf of the Kazakhstan Association of Blockchain Technologies. He noted the importance for Kazakhstan to support youth in their aspirations. Indeed, in the age of digitalization and the IV Industrial Revolution, the ideas of young people may contribute to the development of Kazakhstan.
"Time will show how promising these the projects are. But, if we look at the history of entrepreneurship and various industries' development, we will notice that the main ideas arose in the minds of young people. Take Vitaly Buterin, who at the age of 16-17 was already developing a cryptocurrency, which is now spreading all over the world. This example shows that creative youth is the engine of progress. We want to understand their ideas and worries, how we move forward, and what directions to support. If there are at least 1-2 breakthroughs, then it will benefit our country," Sapar Akhmetov summed up.
